About Us

Acoustic Daze was formed in 2011 by brothers Jon (lead vocals) and Howie Daniels (guitar) with Jeff Chase (guitar, harmony vocals).

Jon and Howie were previously in "The Protons," "The Bridge," and, with Jeff, in "Asbury Daze" prior to forming Acoustic Daze. The band is rounded out with Mark Pattak on lead and rhythm guitar, Laura Daniels on keyboard, plus the young gun rhythm section of Gordy Brash (drums) and Matt Kennedy (bass).

The band performs a melodic mix of classic rock, soul , R&B, a bit of country, and a splash of guilty pleasure pop (mid 60s-2000's).

Howie's unique guitar stylings and the tight vocal harmonies of Jon and Laura are sure to get you tapping your feet and singing along.

Acoustic Daze aims to please it's audience with familiar tunes and a sound that's all its own!

The Band - Current Members

Jon Daniels

Band Founder and Lead Vocals

Performing since 1979, his heartfelt vocals and stage presence were influenced by Springteen, the Beatles, Stones, the Band, and soul music. When not with Acoustic Daze, Jon is also singing lead/backing vocals with Spincycle, known for their epic/rock covers and original music.

Laura Daniels

Keyboard and Lead/Backing Vocals

Has music directed and taught musical theater for over 30 years at multiple Pittsburgh schools and plays including "Hairspray" and "Matilda." Taught for The Woodlands Foundation for special needs individuals. Played at City Winery in NYC with her band Klezlectic and Lew Solof of BST. She enthusiastically enjoys working in many different styles and has played with The Gemtones and the Platinum Band among many others. She has also created studio tracks for multiple local musicians.

Howie Daniels

Band Founder and Lead/Rhythm Guitar

Founding member of the band, Howie started playing violin at age 6 and switched to guitar at age 10. As a student of folk/country/classic rock and R&B, he's influenced by Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, as well as Bruce Springsteen. Has a diverse range of influences, but his eclectic style is his own.

Mark Pattak

Lead/Rhythm Guitar

Playing guitar for 6 decades, since '69 has played with numerous rock and contemporary bands and is familiar with various playing styles. Recently joined Acoustic Daze in 2021/2022.

Matt Kennedy

Bass Guitar

Playing bass professionally for 25 years and graduated from Duquesne University School of Music. Has played for local musicians such as Amanda Ford, Ian Arthurs, and Ronda Zegerelli amongst many others. Has been excited to play alongside his father-in-law in Acoustic Daze.

Gordy Brash

Drums/Percussion

Playing drums for over 15 years, has played in many bands most recently joining Acoustic Daze in 2023. Is influenced by all types of music both new and old and is excited to play with the band as he shares a mutual love for classic rock and soul. In addition to Acoustic Daze, Gordy also is an active member of local psych rock band Astrology Now.

Julian Schwartz

Social Media Manager and Horn/Percussion

Having learned over a dozen instruments in his 20+ year musical career, he primarily plays piano, trombone, trumpet, and percussion. Recently switched from full-time horn/percussion player to Acoustic Daze's Social Media Manager. While he listens to many bands/artists, his most recent influence has been semi-indi band Lawrence. Favorite songs to play are Ophelia, Time Won't Let Me, and Hungry Heart.

Jeff Chase - 2011 to 2024

Band Founder, Lead/Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals

Originally from Portland ME, has been playing guitar since age 11. Honed his harmonizing skills while in youth choir. Was a lead guitarist/vocalist for 2 bands in his hometown and has participated in a variety of rock bands since college. Influences include the Eagles, Beatles, CSNY, Simon/Garfunkel, and Steely Dan.

Played part-time with the band from 2021 thru 2024. While no longer an active member, will still sit in on occasion.

Tommy Sedota - 2011-2023

Drums

First joined Acoustic Daze in 2011 after their rebrand from "Asbury Daze" to "Acoustic Daze." Was the 2nd drummer the band had and was drawn by the musicianship of the group. While no longer an active member, is still in touch with the group and always willig to sit-in if needed.
